Eddie Vedolla
Before the age of 21, Eddie traveled extensively learning, choreographing, and teaching dance. Eddie’s first dance experience happened at age seven when he tagged along with his parents to local country dance classes. At age twenty, Eddie moved to Southern California where he spent six years immersing himself in learning about dance. Not only did he study different forms of social dance like Ballroom, Latin, several Swing dance styles, and Salsa, he also took classes in Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Lyrical, and Hip Hop.
In 2001, Eddie moved back to his hometown in Northern California. Since returning, Eddie has been able to share his knowledge of dance with the local and surrounding communities. As a dance instructor at Mendocino College, Eddie has helped choreograph dance numbers for several theatrical productions and dance festivals. He has worked closely with local non-profit organizations including Mendocino Ballet, School of Performing Arts and Cultural Education (SPACE), Ukiah Players Theater, The City of Ukiah, Dancing with the Stars Sonoma County, and the City of Healdsburg to help promote the joy of dance in his community. He teaches dance in public, private, and charter schools from the elementary level through high school. In addition to working with community organizations, Eddie also enjoys choreographing custom dances for wedding couples.
Eddie loves to share his knowledge of dance to anyone interested because the value of knowing dance (the social benefits, health benefits, and psychological benefits) is immeasurable. One of the main lessons dance has taught Eddie is that accomplishing a goal takes a lot of work and a lot of messing up. Take risks, fall down, get back up, and keep going. Dance has shaped Eddie into who he is today and is excited to share the gift of dance with as many people as possible.
