Rocio Mendoza

Rocio Libertad Mendoza is a performance artist, singer, song writer, and purveyor of the cultural experiences of a Mexican immigrant. Born in Colima Mexico, Rocio grew up in Mendocino County and in her youth worked in agriculture with her family. Both her parents are musicians and taught Rocio Mexican folk melodies. At the age of 15, she began to take dance classes at School of Performing Arts and Cultural Education-SPACE, in Ukiah. Through SPACE she performed in numerous dance recitals as well as perform as a singer and actor in local and regional theater. After taking classes for several years, she became a teacher at SPACE. Rocio became a dance member of Culture Shock San Francisco where she was exposed to the many facets of Hip Hop dance. In 2001 she was scouted by BLOC talent agency and moved to Los Angeles. In between auditioning she toured as a back up singer with singer, song writer Holly Near.

Rocio has appeared in numerous music videos and some films as a dancer including Black Eyed Peas, Carlos Santana, Justin Timberlake, and the films, “You Got Served,” and “Love Don't Cost a Thing.” She is a featured singer/writer on Raphael Saadiq's Grammy Nominated album, "The Way I See It," along with Jay-Z and Stevie Wonder. Mendoza played a lead role in Josefina Lopez' original play titled "Trio Los Machos." In Los Angeles. In 2017 she was a music supervisor and vocalist for the original theater production titled "Fighting Shadows," written by Richard Cabral and Robert Egen. Rocio, has been the lead singer of Tres Souls for the last 10 years, a trio dedicated to the preservation of Bolero music. Tres Soul's past performances include, The Ford Theatre, The Music Center, and Disney's premier of the movie “Coco.” The trio released their first EP in 2019, Titled, “Boleros Made In LA.”
